SUPAFRIK #4 DC Edition

The traveling pop-up shop/gallery, SUPAFRIK, is making its U.S. debut in Washington, D.C. from October 18th – October 21st, 2012.  I can’t tell you how excited I am for this. According to the SUPAFRIK website, SUPAFRIK “is curated around the theme of “Urban Contemporary Africana” and will showcase artwork and design that re-contextualize African aesthetics and traditions within a modern framework.”   Full itinerary after the jump.

Kitchens of Africa

This is an admittedly weird post for FDN.  I don’t blog about food, I blog about fashion!  Well, you can breathe a sigh of relief as this post is less about the food and more about the packaging the food comes in. The  beautiful packaging for the American based Kitchens of Africa sauces were designed to pay homage to African women as the center of African cuisine. I am loving the different silhouettes of black women that appear on each jar. Visit the Kitchens of Africa website.
